DFW has been in the business of home construction for over 20 years.
This house sits in the HYDE PARK district of Kansas City. This neighborhood is a Historic area. The house had experienced a fire that had gutted the first two floors complety. The fire dept cut two holes into the roof that allowed water into the house for years. The shell ws intact, but the Ballon Framing created a special host of issues to bring this hous back to it's origional grandeure.
DFW Construction started using foam concrete forms since 2009. Then, a trailor of would deliver boxes of plastic clips and a stack of foam, each peice of foam was 8' long, 2" thick and 12" tall. We had to build what people today call an ICF BLOCK. with companies producing pre-made blocks of various widths. Foundations can be achived at a mush lower cost.
Cost is not the reason DFW start using foam on the foundations... it was the fact that a house with foam on foundation walls and under slabs, make a house more energy efficent. This alone can raise the efficency to >80%. Most heat loss in a building is through the foundation, and concrete pads sitting on earth.
Beetle Kill Wood is both economical and attractive.
when possible, DFW will make the doors and trim with wood from the same sawmill, to guarantee the color and density of the wood, it the same. their is nothing sadder than a million dollar house where the doors and the trim are SUPPOSED to be the same material...but they do not perfectly match. sad!

DFW...Donald F. Weaver
Has lived in Colorado since 1968. DFW took advantage of life in Colorado, skiing, Mtn Biking, Rock Climbing, Camping, and spending lots of time in the mountains of Colorado.
After High School DFW joined the Army, and lived in Germany for two and a half years, traveling on weekends. This brought DFW in contact with the great history of European design and construction. From the early romans to the Tudor and Victorian, to the more modern houses we see today.
